- Individual Immunity Challenge: The players had to race across the ocean to a shoreline, where they would hunt for the individual immunity idols. The idols were attached to the back of each tribe's boat. The first favorite and the first fan to find their tribe's idol would be granted immunity at the first tribal council they attend.
- Reward/Immunity Challenge: The tribes are to assemble four puzzle wheels, attach them to a cart, and push the cart through a series of wooden fences. Upon reaching a sandpit with the cart, they then must dig up a set of planks to make a bridge. The tribes then push the cart over the bridge to a turnstile. The wheels are then removed and the pieces reassembled to complete the turnstile. The turnstile raises a fire wok on a pulley that lights the top of a platform.
- Reward: Tribal Immunity and flint
The 10 new contestants were brought into Micronesia, excited to start playing their favorite game. Upon landing on the beach, everyone started to wonder where the other tribe was. Jeff then told them that they wouldn't be facing off against new contestants, but rather fan favorites from seasons past. This made everybody excited. When the returning contestants were introduced, Yau-Man got the best reaction, while Jonny Fairplay got the worst reaction. Jeff then told the contestants that they had a chance to win individual immunity. During the hunt for the individual immunity idols, Jonathan got the one for Malakal, and Natalie got the one for Airai. Jeff then sent the tribes off to their camps. At Malakal, the tribe was confident that they would win any challenge, and thought they'd dominate Airai, and alliances were already forming. James, Ozzy, Amanda, and Parvati all bonded, and they all made an alliance. Jonathan, Ami, Eliza and Yau-Man quickly aligned, leaving Cirie and Jonny Fairplay. The two of them decided to make a secret alliance to the finals. At Airai, the tribe didn't know what to do. Half of the tribe wanted to find water and try to make a fire, while the other half wanted to build a shelter. The tribe eventually decided to build their shelter, but the delay caused them to work into the night. Alliance were also forming at Airai. Kathy, Tracy, and Chet aligned right away, feeling they'd be on the outs. Mikey B, Natalie, Alexis, and Erik made an alliance as well, which left Jason, Joel, and Mary on the outs. The three of them decided to make an alliance. At the combined reward/immunity challenge, Malakal quickly fell behind, and Airai easily won the challenge, shocking Malakal, and sending them to tribal council. Back at Malakal, Parvati, Amanda, Ozzy, and James wanted to vote for Yau-Man, while Yau-Man, Jonathan, Ami, and Eliza wanted to vote for Parvati. Jonny Fairplay and Cirie didn't want to vote for either of the two, and wanted to make a power move. They thought Ozzy was the biggest threat, and wanted him gone. The two of them went to Yau-Man, and told him they'd vote with his alliance if the four of them voted for Ozzy. Yau-Man talked to his alliance, and they agreed to vote for Ozzy. At tribal council, Jonny Fairplay said that the vote would change the camp dynamic. For the vote, Jonny Fairplay, Cirie, Yau-Man, Jonathan, Eliza, and Ami voted for Ozzy, while Ozzy, James, Parvati, and Amanda voted for Yau-Man. Ozzy became the first person voted off in a 6-4 vote.Episode 2: "The Game Heats Up Real Quickly"
- Reward/Immunity Challenge: Five castaways are chosen to swim, one at a time, to a platform, grab a club, and leap off the platform to smash a tile that releases a key. The swimmer then retrieves the key and swims back to shore with it, allowing the next tribemate to go out. Once the five keys are collected, another castaway uses the keys to open a locked box containing a set of puzzle pieces that form a map of Micronesia. Three other castaways put the puzzle together.
- Reward: Tribal Immunity, fishing gear, and a bamboo fishing boat
Back at the Malakal camp, James, Parvati, and Amanda were surprised Ozzy was voted out. They thought Yau-Man was the clear choice, as he was the biggest strategic threat. Parvati and Amanda talked to Cirie about what had happened, and Cirie said that she would rather go up against Yau-Man then go up against Ozzy, but Amanda criticized her choice, saying that the tribe would be much weaker without Ozzy around. At Airai, Chet started to annoy most of the tribe, and Joel talked to his alliance about voting him off, which his alliance all thought would be a good idea. This made Chet, Kathy, and Tracy feel even more on the outs, as they realized people were already planning on voting them out. At the combined reward and immunity challenge, Malakal took an early lead, thanks to Jon, Ami, and Parvati, while Airai fell behind quickly due to Chet's poor swimming skills. For the puzzle, Cirie, Yau-Man, and Eliza faced off against Kathy, Natalie, and Tracy, but because of Malakal's lead their was no competition, and Malakal easily won the challenge. Jeff then revealed that Exile Island was back, and that Malakal would send one person to go to exile island. They chose Kathy. Jeff then revealed that they would have to send one of their own tribe members to got to Exile Island, Jonny Fairplay volunteered to go. At Exile Island, Jonny Fairplay and Kathy received four clues to the hidden immunity idol that made them go back and forth between two islands, but they didn't find the idol. Back at Airai, everyone thought Chet should go due to his poor performance in the challenge. Knowing that they were all on the chopping block, Chet and Tracy decided to make a move. They went up to Joel, Mary, and Jason and told them that they wanted to take down Mikey B's alliance, because they had too much power and would be a serious threat. They suggested that the five of them, as well as Kathy, team up and vote out Alexis. Joel and Jason agreed with them, but Mary still thought Chet would be the better choice. At tribal council, Joel said the strength was the primary reason to vote somebody out, and Tracy said that they already had to be thinking about the endgame. For the vote, Tracy, Jason, Chet, Kathy, Mary, and Joel voted for Alexis, while Alexis, Natalie, Erik, and Mikey B voted for Chet. Alexis became the second person voted out in a 6-4 vote.Episode 3: "A Rock Would Be Smarter Than Him"
- Reward Challenge: In a playing area similar to a football field, the tribes start at opposite ends of the playing field with three canvas bags. The tribes have to battle their way to their end zone. The challenge ends when one tribe has their three bags and two of the other tribe's bags in their end zone at the same time.
- Reward: Three sets of items chosen from a catalog by the tribe
- Immunity Challenge: Two women and two men from each tribe hold onto ropes that support a large net. The other castaways, one at a time, attempt to toss coconuts into the other tribe's net. The tribe who holds up their net for the longest time wins the challenge.
Mikey B was shocked and angry that Alexis was voted out. He thought Chet shouldn't be in the game, and that the tribe made the wrong choice to vote out Alexis. He, Natalie, and Erik were all worried about being voted out if they had to go to tribal council. Mikey B and Erik talked to Joel and Jason about their choice to vote out Alexis, and Mikey B and Jason got into an argument after Jason said voting out Alexis was a strategic move. Mikey B said that a rock would be smarter than Jason. At Airai, the tribe was much more relaxed. James and Jonny Fairplay decided to go out fishing, and they ended up catching a lot of fish for their tribe, which lifted everyone's spirits. At the reward challenge, James dominated for Malakal, but it didn't stop Airai from taking the lead thanks to Joel and Mikey B. Despite Chet's poor performance in the challenge, Airai was able to win reward. They chose to send Eliza to Exile Island, and Mikey B, under the assumption a hidden immunity idol was hidden there, volunteered to go. At Exile Island, Eliza and Mikey B followed the clues, but still weren't able to find the hidden immunity idol. Mikey B kept looking long after Eliza stopped, feeling that he needed the idol or he'd be voted out. At the immunity challenge, Malakal was quickly able to get many coconuts into Airai's net, allowing Malakal to win immunity once again. Back at Airai, Erik and Natalie decided they would rather vote Jason out before Chet. They talked to Chet, Kathy, and Tracy about voting Jason off with them, and they said they would think about it. They didn't think it was necessarily the best idea. They decided to tell Joel, Mary, and Jason that Jason was being targeted. They agreed to vote for Natalie. All they needed to do now was make sure that Chet, Tracy, and Kathy voted with them. The three of them talked, and thought that they could keep the tribe strong and vote out Natalie, or they could make their alliance more powerful by voting out Jason. At tribal council, Joel and Jason campaigned for them to keep Jason and vote out Natalie, and Kathy said their was a clear division in the tribe. For the vote, Joel and Mary realized their campaigning was worthless, and they switched their vote to Jason. Everyone, even Joel and Mary, voted for Jason, while Jason voted for Natalie. Jason became the third person voted off in an 8-1 vote.Episode 4: "We're Unstoppable"
- Reward Challenge: Four members of each tribe would swim out to a floating platform. One at a time, a castaway would dive down to a 30foot (9.1m) long steel cage that contained coconuts painted in tribe colors and with letters on them. The coconuts would have to be placed in a floating bin and the bin pulled back to shore. The four remaining castaways would unscramble a word puzzle using the letters on the coconuts.
- Reward: Three chicken hens and one rooster along with chicken feed
- Immunity Challenge: Six tribe members would race to six point, sliding hub and harness themselves in. The six would then pass around a keyring to find a key their individual lock that secured the hub to a stand. Once unlocked, the hub would have to be maneuvered through the forest where six puzzle piece necklaces were hanging on trees. The two remaining tribemates would use the necklaces as keys on a decoding wheel, which would decrypt a three word phrase.
Joel and Mary were feeling bad that Jason was voted out, but they knew they tried their best to keep him around. They went up to Chet, Kathy, and Tracy, and wanted to make sure that they were still aligned. They said they were, and they all agreed to vote for Mikey B the next time they had to go to tribal council. At Malakal, Parvati and Jonathan got into an argument because Jonathan was taking more rice than anybody else on the tribe. At the reward challenge, James sat out for Malakal. Malakal took an early lead thanks to Jonny Fairplay, Parvati, Ami, and Amanda swimming, and Airai quickly fell behind. For the puzzle, Jonathan, Eliza, Cirie, and Yau-Man got an early lead, but Chet, Kathy, Tracy, and Mary were able to catch up. Despite this, Malakal won the challenge, along with the hens and roosters. They chose to send Kathy to Exile Island, and James volunteered to go with her. At Exile Island, Kathy decided to lie to James and say that Mikey B, Erik, and Natalie were running the show over on Malakal, and that Mikey B had found the idol. She was able to convince James, and James thought that should he get the chance, his best move would be to vote out one of the three. Kathy and James then agreed to team up should they become teammates. Back at Malakal, the tribe was feeling unstoppable after winning 4 of the 6 challenges. They decided to celebrate and went out as a tribe for a hike. At the immunity challenge, Ami sat out for Malakal. Airai took an early lead, and were able to quickly get their puzzle pieces, giving Tracy and Mikey B a huge lead on the puzzle. Despite the lead, the two of them weren't working as a team, and Malakal was able to make up time thanks to Yau-Man and Cirie at the puzzle. Airai's lead quickly vanished, and Malakal was able to win their third immunity challenge in a row. At Airai, Joel, Mary, Chet, Kathy, and Tracy all agreed to stick with their original plan and vote out Mikey B. Mikey B knew he was on the chopping block, and decided to make a fake immunity idol and convince Joel and Mary to vote with him. He showed it to Joel, which made Joel worried. Mikey B told him that if he didn't vote with they, he would play it, and vote Joel out. Joel told Kathy, Chet, and Tracy what Mikey B was doing, and they attempted to convince Joel that the idol was a fake, but Joel was still worried, and wasn't sure if he'd vote for Mikey B or not. At tribal council, Mikey B accidentally implied that the hidden immunity idol was still out in the open, and Joel realized he'd been had. For the vote, Joel, Kathy, Tracy, Mary, and Chet voted for Mikey B, while Mikey B, Natalie, and Erik voted for Chet. Mikey B became the fourth person voted off in a 5-3 vote.Episode 5: "Starstruck"
- Reward Challenge: The tribes would divide into pairs that are harnessed together. Taking turns in rounds, one pair from one tribe would chase a pair from the other tribe through an obstacle course in the forest and attempt to grab a flag attached to the backs of the pair being chased. There would be a time limit of one minute to chase down the pair. If the chasing pair succeeded in grabbing the flag, their tribe would receive one point. If the chasing pair did not succeed, the other tribe would receive one point. The first tribe to score three points would win the challenge.
- Reward: Steak, sausage, vegetables, spices, and wine
- Immunity Challenge: Four members from each tribe would alternate at throwing rocks at hanging tiles. When the tile is broken, it would drop a bundle of puzzle pieces. Three tribe members and a direction caller would assemble a color-coded puzzle from the pieces.
Natalie and Erik were clear outsiders on their tribe. Most of the others wouldn't interact with them, and the two of them were beginning to feel shunned by their tribe. They needed a miracle to keep them in the game. At Malakal, despite Parvati, James, and Amanda being on the outs, the tribe was united, and was easily able to work together. They were all feeling pretty happy about their winning streak. Before the reward challenge began, Jeff announced the the tribes wee being switched up. The new Airai tribe consisted of Amanda, Cirie, James, Joel, Jonathan, Kathy, Mary, and Natalie, while the new Malakal tribe consisted of Ami, Chet, Eliza, Erik, Jonny Fairplay, Parvati, Tracy, and Yau-Man. The two tribes then took place in the very physical reward challenge. Airai won, but their tribe received the most injuries, with James cutting his foot, Amanda dislocating her shoulder (which was soon relocated), and Natalie twisting her ankle. Despite their injuries, the tribe was in good spirits and went to their new camp. At Airai, the new tribe celebrated their victory, and alliances immediately formed. James and Kathy reunited from Exile Island, and James brought her into his alliance with Amanda. Jonathan, Joel, Cirie, and Mary aligned, which left Natalie alone as a free vote. At Malakal, Erik was clearly starstruck by the former Malakal members, and wanted to align with them, which amused them all. Meanwhile, Jonny Fairplay, Ami, Eliza, and Yau-Man all agreed to try and get Parvati into their alliance and systematically take out the former Airai members. Ami and Eliza talked to Parvati about it. Parvati was open to the idea, but knew she couldn't trust them, and wanted to see if she could make an alliance with the former Airai members. At the immunity challenge, Malakal quickly fell behind, and the new Airai easily won their second challenge in a row. Back at Malakal, Parvati talked with Tracy, who told her that Erik was not part of their alliance and that they would be voting for him. Parvati threw out the idea of the former Airai teaming up with her, but Tracy and Chet wanted Erik off. Parvati went back to the Malakal alliance, and agreed to join them, and said that Tracy and Chet would be on board with them if they decided to vote out Erik. They agreed, as he was getting on their nerves, but Jonny Fairplay and Yau-Man thought Chet was the weakest link and voting him out would be better for the tribe. At tribal council, Jonny Fairplay, Eliza, Ami, Parvati, Yau-Man, Tracy, and Chet voted for Erik, while Erik voted for Chet. Erik became the fifth person voted off in a 7-1 vote.Episode 6: "It Ruined All Of Our Days"
- Reward Challenge: The tribes were to swim out to collect bundles of planks, sticks, and ropes. They would then have ten minutes to use these items to build a blockade of the other tribe's tunnel. The tribes would then race to tear apart the other tribe's blockade of their own tunnel and get all the members of their tribe through to the other side.
- Reward: A visit by two native Micronesians who would demonstrate how to improve the tribe campsite and catch crabs and fish.
- Immunity Challenge: The tribes were to use two stepping poles to transfer two tribe members from one platform to another out at sea. All the tribe members would then swim out to a smaller tower. To win immunity, the tribe has to get all seven of its members on the tower with both feet on or above the top deck.
Although Chet and Tracy felt that they were in a solid alliance with Parvati, that was not true at all. The two of them were on the chopping block, and they were unaware the former Malakal members had aligned together. At Airai, the tribe was very laid back, which irritated James. He thought they should be working around camp and improving their shelter, but nobody would listen to him. This made him very angry, and he had an argument with Jonathan about work ethic. At the reward challenge, the tribes were very even, but Malakal was just barely able to win. They decided to send Amanda to Exile Island, and they sent Tracy with her. After the challenge, Jeff told Airai to stay back and that the Survivor Medical Team wanted to take a look at James' cut. They told him that there was a risk of infection, and that they recommended he be removed from the game, which shocked his tribe. James said that as much as he wanted to compete in the game, the risk of getting an infection was too high, and was removed from the game, which saddened his tribe. At Exile Island, Amanda told Tracy that she, Kathy, and James were in an alliance, and that Parvati, Tracy, and Chet should join them when the tribes merged. Tracy agreed this was a good idea, and the two of them went looking for the immunity idol. After a while, Amanda found the idol. She decided not to tell Tracy, just to be safe. At Malakal, the tribe welcomed the native Micronesians, and were happy to be taught how to effectively catch fish. At Airai, the tribe was bummed that they lost and that James had been removed from the game. Amanda especially was shocked and depressed. The tribe lost their motivation. At the immunity challenge, Airai was able to win the challenge, which really lifted their mood. Back at Malakal, the favorites alliance agreed to vote out Chet do to his poor performance in the challenge. Parvati told Tracy and Chet that they were voting for Eliza. At tribal council, Jonny Fairplay, Parvati, Ami, Eliza, and Yau-Man voted for Chet, while Chet and Tracy voted for Eliza. Chet was blindsided, and became the sixth person voted off.Episode 7: "Should We Make A Move?"
- Reward Challenge: Four members of each tribe would be blindfolded and would push a large money stone through a forest course while being verbally directed by the two other tribe members. Along the course, the money stones would crush four tiles that would reveal a pair of smaller money stones. Three tribe members would then use these eight stones to solve a rotating cog puzzle.
- Reward: A trip to an island to enjoy a spa and food
- Immunity Challenge: A tribe member would race across a floating bridge carrying one end of a rope. The rope would then be attached to a bundle of giant puzzle pieces. The rest of the tribe would turn a winch that would reel in the bundle and the tribe member back to the beach. Five bundles would need to be hauled to the beach in this manner. Two tribe members would then assemble the puzzle pieces.
Tracy felt blindsided after tribal council, and now realized that she had no ally on her tribe. She confronted Parvati about this, and Parvati told her that Chet was the weakest link, and that she still was aligned with Tracy, but Tracy didn't buy it. At Airai, Amanda decided to show the hidden immunity idol to Kathy. She did, and Kathy realized that they could make a big move the next time they went to tribal council. Kathy wanted to vote out Joel, but Amanda wasn't sure they should make a big move so soon. At the reward challenge, Airai took an early lead, but Malakal was able to shorten the gap while working on the puzzle, thanks to Yau-Man and Eliza. Despite this, Airai was still able to win reward, thanks to Amanda and Cirie. Airai decided to send Yau-Man to Exile Island, and Jonathan agreed to go as well. At Exile Island, Yau-Man and Jonathan happily reunited. Yau-Man told Jonathan that Parvati had join their alliance, and they wanted to make an all favorites alliance. At Yau-Man's suggestion, Jonathan agreed to bring Amanda into his alliance. The two of them then went to look for the idol, but neither of them could find it, which made Yau-Man think that someone had already found it. At Airai, Joel and Mary were acting like they were in charge, which really irritated Amanda and Kathy. At the immunity challenge, Jeff revealed that the losing tribe would receive a message in a bottle to be opened at tribal council. During the challenge, Malakal was able to win, sending Airai to tribal council. At Airai, Jonathan approached Amanda about joining his alliance, and told her that once the tribes merged, the remaining favorites wanted to join together. Amanda agreed, but she didn't fully believe Jonathan was telling the truth. Meanwhile, Natalie, knowing that she'd be on the chopping block since she didn't have an alliance, went up to everybody in the tribe and asked them about forming an alliance. This worried Cirie, as she knew Natalie was playing the game. She suggested that the Malakal alliance vote out Natalie, and get Joel, Mary, and Kathy to vote for her as well, which they all agreed to do. However, Jonathan was worried that they would have to vote out two people, like in the Cook Islands. He talked to his alliance about voting out either Mary or Kathy if they had to vote out another person. Cirie wanted to vote out Kathy do to her being a weak link, but Jonathan and Amanda both wanted to vote out Mary, because without her Joel would be powerless, and they didn't think she was much better in the challenges then Kathy was. At tribal council, Amanda, Cirie, Joel, Jonathan, Kathy, and Mary voted for Natalie, while Natalie voted for Amanda. Natalie became the seventh person voted off in a 6-1 vote. Jeff then told them to read the note, which said, as Jonathan predicted, that they would be voting out another person. For the vote, Jonathan, Cirie, Amanda, and Kathy voted for Mary, while Mary and Joel voted for Kathy. Mary became the eighth person voted off in a 4-2 vote.Episode 8: "Don't You Realize We'll All Be Gone?"
- Reward/Immunity Challenge: One tribe member at a time would have to cross an obstacle course of stepping stones suspended by ropes, rotating barrels, a balance beam, a floating bridge, and a net to retrieve a flag. The tribe member would then have to cross back with the flag thus scoring a point for their tribe. Two tribe members would be assigned to run the course. Two other tribe members would try to knock the opposing tribe's runner from the course into a water pit by swinging canvas bags at them. If the tribe member fell off the course, they would have to return to the start and the other runner would have to make an attempt. The first tribe to collect five flags would win the challenge.
- Reward: Pizza and beer delivered to the tribe's campsite.
At Airai, Joel was shocked that Mary was voted out, especially since he thought he held all the power in his alliance. This made him worried that he would be voted out next, and tried to reaffirm his alliance with the favorites. In the morning, he talked to Kathy about the trouble they were in. He said that if he was voted out, the fans would have even less of a chance of making it to the end, as they'd be down to two against Malakal's eight. Kathy said that Amanda wouldn't betray her, but Joel said that all of the fans would be gone if they didn't make a move. At Malakal, Tracy tried to make a female alliance with Eliza, Ami, and Parvati, to no avail. Back at Airai, Cirie told Jonathan and Amanda that the merge was about to happen, and that Joel would be the biggest threat in the challenges. She suggested that the tribe throw the challenge and vote out Joel. Amanda disliked the idea of throwing a challenge, but they agreed Joel was the biggest threat and that throwing the challenge would be better for them. They told Kathy about this, and she agreed she'd throw the challenge. At the challenge, the tribes had to select one member of the opposing tribe that would sit out, go to Exile Island, and have immunity if their tribe had to go to tribal council. Malakal chose Amanda to sit out for Airai, while Airai chose Jonny Fairplay to sit out for Malakal. For Airai, Joel and Cirie were chosen to throw the bags, while Jonathan and Kathy were chosen to run the course. For Malakal, Ami chose to sit out, Yau-Man and Tracy were chosen to throw the bags, and Parvati and Eliza were chosen to run the course. Airai proceeded with their plan to throw the challenge, with Kathy and Jonathan barely trying, and Cirie intentionally missing. Despite this, Joel was determined not to lose, and was able to successfully knock Eliza and Parvati off multiple times. Despite his efforts, Airai's plan to throw the challenge was a success, and Malakal won reward and immunity. Back at Malakal, the tribe celebrated their win, and were thrilled to finally get some food. At Exile Island, both Amanda and Jonny Fairplay were annoyed that they'd both be missing out on the reward, but reaffirmed the favorites alliance. The two of them went to search for the idol, even though Amanda had it. While Jonny Fairplay was busy, Amanda made a fake hidden immunity idol and put it where she had found the original. Eventually, Jonny Fairplay stumbled upon it, and was thrilled to have what he thought was the idol. At Airai, Joel was pissed at his tribe that they threw the challenge. He tried to convince Jonathan and Cirie that Kathy was the weakest link, and he tried to convince Kathy that her best chance at the end would be by voting out Jonathan, but nobody was willing to move. Joel knew he was going to get voted out, and he decided to bring everyone down with him. When Kathy, Jonathan, and Cirie went to go fishing, Joel took all their spare clothes and threw them into the ocean, and put them under a rock. He then took the flint, pot, and machete, and hid them far in the jungle, where nobody could find them. Joel then did the worst thing he could do to his tribe, and lit the shelter on fire. Adding insult to injury, he put out the fire in the fire-pit, ensuring his tribe could not cook food or boil water. When Cirie, Jonathan, and Kathy came back, they were shocked at what had happened. Joel played dumb and said he didn't know what happened either, but Jonathan thought Joel had done it all, and had sealed his own fate. At tribal council, Amanda was shocked when Jonathan revealed that their shelter had been burnt down, and all their materials had disappeared. Jonathan said he thought Joel was responsible, and Joel admitted he was, and that if he was going down, he was bringing his tribe down with him. For the vote, Jonathan, Kathy, Amanda, and Cirie voted for Joel, while Joel voted for Kathy. Joel became the ninth person voted off in a 4-1 vote.Voting History:
