The original, and some say the best season ever.
There were so many great moments during this season. Unlike the season that follow, there weren't twists and turns thrown at the first group of castaways. This season was all about character development. And what a group of characters they were.
Even when it came to voting, in the first several shows the castaways voted as individuals based on how they felt not because of alliances... until Richard organized the Tagi Alliance (the first Survivor alliance) which consisted of himself, Rudy, Sue and Kelly.
There was heartbreak when Jenna didn't receive a video from home, and there was joy when Gervase learned that his son had been born while he was one the island.
There was the zany Greg who talk to the outside world on his coconut phone.
And who could forget Dr Sean, his super pole 2000, his bowling alley and his alphabet voting strategy.
Speaking of Dr. Sean's voting strategy... his most memorable voting comment was in the episode where Jenna was next in line alphabetically and Sean in TC said he didn't think his voting strategy would affect the outcome of the vote, and that Jenna was safe. He understood a little too late that if everyone knew who he was voting for, then all a few other people had to do was cast the same vote. And in this case Jenna was sent home.
And of course one of Survivor's most memorable moments (and considered one of reality television's greatest moments): Sue Hawks rat and snake speech during final tribal council, verbally knocking Kelly W.
This was the only season in which the final jury votes were revealed immediately after being cast, rather than months la
ter in front of a live audience.
The Survivor: Borneo finale received the highest ratings of any Survivor episode to date.
