Unforgettable moments
Losing Streak. The Maraamu tribe, who on paper, seemed like the stronger of the two tribes, becomes the first tribe in Survivor history to suffer a long period losing streak right from the beginning of the season. Maraamu never won a challenge until Episode 5 and, even after that, only obtained a total of 3 wins going into the merge.

Rob's First Romance. Boston Rob Mariano (who would, in 4 seasons later, end up proposing to Amber Brkich of season 2) dived into his first relationship with fellow Maraamu tribemate, Sarah Jones. This relationship was, however, put on hold due to a twist in Episode 4 that separated the two onto different tribes, leading to the immediate elimination of Sarah. Big question is: If the two weren't separated, would they still have been together?

The Great Power Shift. It became clear, entering the merge that the core Rotu members (John C., Robert, Tammy, and Zoe) had all the power in their hands, as they planned to pick everyone else off one-by-one. However, in a game-changing immunity challenge, a pecking order was revealed showing the arrogance of the four of them. Thus, former Rotu members Neleh Dennis, Paschal English, and Kathy Vavrick O'Brien banded with remaining Maraamu members Sean Rector and Vecepia Towery to overthrow this alliance, leading up to a memorable tribal council where a confident John Carroll was voted off and left completely blindsided. Chicks in The Finals. Marquesas was the first season to have a Final 3 of all women. Thus, Vecepia and Neleh made the Marquesas as the first season to have a non co-ed, all-female Final 2.

Kathy was and is still one of my favorite survivors! How to use your spunk and adventurous spirit while still working with stubborn young people in the tribe. So tricky! I felt for you Kathy! The day I get on survivor my most difficult task will to not let my excitement and desire to take care of things become over powering. And also holding back from telling some lazy people to get off their butts! At home I can be as driven and get as much stuff done as I like, but when you're in a group of people they're judging every move you make. Tricky business playing the people game.
