Episode Summary:

Episode 1: "Twist and Twist Again"

• Reward/Immunity Challenge: Each tribe will push 4 blocks along a track to build the base of a temple. Then, they will run up the steps, where one person will use an axe to chop a series of ropes, releasing another set of steps. Then they will make ther way to the top, where they will race to complete a block puzzle, completing their temple.
• Reward: Flint

As the tribes exited the helicopter, they surveryed their competiton. Francesca looked on with a confident grin, she knew she could defeat these people easily. The tribes gathered on their mats, excited to begin the game. Jeff welcomed to Nicaragua, and told them that there was a surprise waiting for them. Another helipcopter landed on the beach, and ot of it stepped Rob and Russell. There were screams of excitement and shock. Francesca's face dropped, suddenly her easy win wasn't going to be so easy. Jeff had Rob and Russell randomly draw buffs. Much to Francesca's dismay, Rob ended up on Ometepe, and Russell ended up on Zapatera. Jeff also explained the new twist, Redemption Island. When someone was voted out, they would go to Redemption Island. When the next person was voted off, the two would duel, with the winner staying on Redemption Island, and the loser is eliminated. At a certain point in the game, whoever is left on Redemption Island will come back into the game. More whispering came from the castaways. Jeff gave each tribe a map to their cap and sent them on their way. At Ometepe, the alpha males, Phillip and Rob, worked together instead of fighting for dominance. Phillip rubbed many people the wrong way, especially Francesca, with his demanding personality. Francesca talked with Kristina about her disadain for Phillip. Kristina agreed with her, and a special bond was formed between the two. At Zapatera, Russell continued his coniving ways by forming alliances with the young girls, Stephanie and Krista. He also made an intellectual alliance with David. A group of four, Mike, Ralph, Julie, and Sarita, bonded together over their common goal to take out Russell. That left Steve in the middle of two alliances. Steve carefully observed everyone, so he could make his decision. Even though the tribe hadn't gone to tribal councl yet, there was a lot of animosity between the opposing alliances, especially between the alliance leaders, Russell and Mike. Ometepe worked well together and got a nice shelter up quickly. Zapatera, however, couldn't work together, and it resulted in a poor shelter. That night, Ometepe slept well, with an almost rain-proof shelter. Zapatera was soaked by the poring rain, and no one got any sleep. The next day, no one at Zapatera was in a good mood. Steve pulled the tribe together, telling them that they had to put the alliances aside and work together. They all agreed and worked hard on building a better shelter. At Ometepe, Francesca argued with Phillip about his bossiness around camp. He then called her lazy, resulting in a split in the tribe. Natalie and Ashley sided with Francesca and Kristina, while Matt sided with Rob and Phillip. Andrea and Grant were left in the middle. Those two had grown very close over the first day and a half. They realized they were in a power position and didn't want to waste it like Dolly had in Vanuatu. They refrained from making a choice until absolutely necessary. At Zapatera, David tried to work on Steve, convincing him that Russell was an assett to the tribe, and they needed him more than someone like Sarita. Steve agreed, altough he admitted to not completely trusting David, because he knew that David was a gameplayer, and a good one at that. The other alliance refrained from talking strategy with Steve, worried that he wouldn't trust them if they did. That night, Zapatera had a much better night with a better shelter and a more mellow mood. The next morning, the tribes received their first treemail. Kristina excitedly brought it back to the rest of her tribe. She read it to them, and they all grew as excited as her. Their first immunity challenge was right around the corner, and they were ready to pull out a victory. At the challenge, Jeff explained the rules, and gave them the signal to start. Ometepe pulled ahead in pushing the blocks, and Rob flew threw the ropes, but they were haulted at the puzzle. Phillip and Francesca argued about it, and they were making no progress. Ralph quickly got through the ropes for Zapatera, and the tribes were now even. David led the Zapatera tribe through the puzzle, and the completed it easily. Giving Zapatera the win of the first immunity challenge. Back at Ometepe, Phillip and Francesca were furious at each other. Each of them told their alliance to vote out the other. Rob told Phillip that even though Francesca wouldn't listen, she was strong, and they needed someone weak, like Natalie, to go first. Each alliance relayed their plan to Andrea and Grant. Andrea and Grant were taken aback when they heard Natalie's name. Even though she wasn't the strongest person on the tribe, she had done nothing to deserve to be voted out. Phillip was a strong member of the tribe, and losing him would be a blow to the tribe's challenge performance. They had no idea which way to go. At tribal council, Phillip called out Francesca as the root of all problems within the tribe, and Francesca said that he was actually the one causing problems. When Jeff asked Rob his opinion, he said that the problem wasn't the disfunction at camp, but the weak players on the tribe. Jeff asked him if there was anyone specific, and Rob called out Natalie, which resulted in a shocked reaction. She told Rob that they had been through only one challenge, and he couldn't judge her from that, especially when she wasn't one of the main factors in losing. With that, Jeff started the vote. One by one, each castaway cast their vote. Jeff got the urn and pulled out the first vote, Natalie. Followed by another voted for Natalie, then a vote for Phillip. He pulled out two more voted for Phillip, and another for Natalie. It was tied at 3 votes for Phillip and 3 votes for Natalie. He pulled out the next vote, Phillip. He reached in and took out the eigth voted. The first person voted out of Survivor Redemption Island, Phillip. Phillip brought up his torch and had it snuffed by Jeff. He turned and gave a smile and wave. He picked up his torch and headed to Redemption Island. Jeff gave Ometepe some parting advice, focus on the challenges, then they can worry about the game. With that, Ometepe left tribal council, and they headed back to camp.






Episode 2: "Time's Up"

• Reward/Immunity Challenge: One at a time, a castaway would swim across a pool, climb up a tower, and then jump off the tower to smash a tile. The smashed tile would release a key which the castaway would retrieve. Once five keys were retrieved, one castaway would use the keys to unlock a box that contained a ball. Two castaways would then toss the ball to break five tiles. The first tribe to break all five tiles would win.

• Reward: Fishing gear

As Ometepe returned to camp, Matt and Rob were worried about what they could do to stay in the game. They discussed their plans and realized that the idol may be their only chance. As Phillip made his home on Redemption Island, he thought about his chances if he came back. The next morning, Matt and Rob went idol hunting. Matt gave up after about an hour+, but Rob wouldn't give up. This sparked a lot of attention from the Ometepe girls, especially Andrea. After a couple more hours Rob gave up. He decded to make it look like he had the idol by putting a stone in his pocket. Little did he know that Andrea saw him put the stone in his pocket. Andrea informed Natalie and Ashley about what she saw, so they knew that Rob didn't have the idol. They decided not to tell the others. And when the rest of the tribe saw Rob, they thought that he had found they idol. At Zapatera, Russell had a much more successful idol hunt, where he found the idol. Both alliances tried to convince Steve to join their side. Steve made no promises to either side, but he admitted in a confssional that he was leaning on going with Julie, Sarita, Ralph, and Mike. Russell told his alliance that he found the idol. He made a plan that if they lost immunity, then they would promise Steve the idol if he voted with them. The rest agreed. Back at Ometepe, Rob tried to find a crack in the other alliance. The tried to convince Francesca, Kristina, and Grant that Andrea, Ashley, and Natalie were way too close, an they could pull in Matt as soon as Rob was gone to take them out. They, however, disagreed and said that they would remain loyal to the six. The next day, Rob brought back treemail annoucing the challenge. At the challenge, Jeff announced that they would be playing for reward and immunity. After he explained the challenge, the tribes went to planning. Zapatera chose Stephanie to sit out. They chose Mike, Steve, Krista, Julie, and Russell to swim, Sarita was the keymaster, and Ralph and David to throw the balls. Ometepe chose Ashley, Andrea, Natalie, Grant, and Matt to swim, Kristina was the keymaster, and Francesca and Rob to throw the balls. As the challenge started, Mike beat Ashley for the first key, and Steve beat Andrea for the 2nd, but Ometepe gaine time as Natalie overtook Krista. Grant beat Julie, and Matt finished before Russell. Kristina started unlocking, but was struggling. Sarita got through the locks fast and Zapatera got their lead back. Bt the time Kristina finished witht he locks, Ralph and David had already broken 2 tiles. Ralph broke the third tile, and Rob broke the first 2. David broke the fourth one, and Francesca broke the third. Ralph and David struggled with the last tile, and Francesca broke the fourth one. It was a showdown, and Rob finally broke the last tile. Ometepe won reward and immunity. While carrying the reward back, Rob noticed the clue in one of the flippers. As soon as they set down the reward, Rob grabbed the clueout and took Matt into the woods. Andrea saw them and followed them back. She hid behind the tress as they read the clue out loud. Both of them ran off looking for it. Andrea went back to camp and told Natalie and Ashley the clue. All 3 of them went to search for the idol. Ashley found the idol under a rock, but decided not tell anyone. At Zapatera, Russell promised Steve the idol if he voted with them. Steve was shocked that he had already found the idol. Steve had no idea what to do. At tribal council, Ralph caled out Stephanie as lazy and weak. Russell defended her by saying she wasn't given much of a chance, because they chose her to sit out in the challenge. Julie said this was what it was like in the game. Russell was covering Stephanie, while she did nothing. She was acting like Russell's lapdog. Stephanie said that Julie did the exact same thing in her alliance. With that, Jeff announced it was time to vote. Each person went up and voted. Jeff went and got the votes. He pulled out the first vote, Stephanie. Followed by a Stephanie, and another Stephanie. He took out the next vote, Sarita. Then a Sarita, and then a Stephanie. He pulled out a Sarita. He then pulle dout the 2nd to last vote, Sarita. There was one vote left, that would decide who was going, and it was Steve's vote. Jeff pulled out the final vote and announced as he turned around the vote, "The second person voted out of Survivor Redemption Island, Stephanie." Stephanie sighed and stod up. She gave a hug to Krista and grabbed her torch. Jeff told Stephanie, "Stephanie. the tribe has spoken." And he snuffed her torch. She left without a word and went to redemption island. Jeff told Zapatera it was obvious that this tribe was split in half and they need to learn to work together. Zapatera left tribal council. At Redemption Island, Phillip was exicted to see little Stephanie coming.
